Acting as Historians

This is our Home page for our own Advanced Placement U.S. blog. Here is the place outside class where we are asked - and required - to make connections to our daily lives, our futures, and our understanding of ” Whose America is it?” It is a “catch-all” where we can comment on things discussed in class that day, ask questions about things we don’t understand, and draw connections between the “then” we studied in class and the “now” that we are living. As we get into the twentieth century, events become more immediate to us, both literally and figuratively. Your parents and grandparents will no doubt have lived through some of the periods and events we are studying and might be interested in adding their personal experiences to the mix of opinion, thought, and commentary as well. We may want to post a link to an article, video, or podcast that we think has relevance to our topics and generate some commentary and analysis on that idea as well. In addition we have a Then and Now page which has some specific podcasts, videos and selected text that you will be required to respond to, but this page is for daily comment or just wandering questions the class might want to share information about.   This election year will undoubtedly raise some questions about our political system.
Can we learn something from the past? Does it apply to us today? Whose America is it really?
